adobe acrobat reader 32 bit

My MacBook Air running Mojave displays messages that Adobe events manager needs to be optimized to work with future versions of Mac OS. I looked up the 32-bit items on my computer. Adobe Reader and several other Adobe utilities were listed. I moved them to a separate folder, then went to the Adobe website and downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader. When I went to install, I got a message that the version I was downloading was older than the one installed, so I quit. More searching revealed this post from Adobe:

"Assuming that you installed Acrobat Pro DC, Acrobat Pro 2015, or Acrobat Pro 2017 you are running 64-bit versions of Acrobat. There are no longer any 32-bit versions. The message you are seeing is with relationship to the installer which will be upgraded to 64-bit soon. These versions will continue to work with MacOS releases." So if this is true, why does my Mac list this as legacy software? Thanks.

If you are on Mojave and intend on staying on Mojave 32bit apps will continue to work. The next OS up Catalina which was released back in October does not run 32bit apps. If you are considering upgrading to Catalina then now is your chance to review which apps you have that are 32bit or have 32bit elements and to contact the developers of those apps to see if they are going to provide updates that will be 64bit, like you have with Adobe, so prepare now rather than doing so in retrospect.

Also make sure any printers/ scanners etc that you use have 64bit drivers and software available so you can upgrade

with confidence.

Just to reiterate Mojave will always run both 32bit and 64bit apps, the warning only applies to macOS Catalina and in the future the next releases of macOS.
