Podcast app keeps crashing

I'm on a month-old iPhone 11 Pro (having moved up from an iPhone SE) and this is the first time I’ve encountered a problem like this. I did the following:

• restarted the app
• cleared all the apps in the background, and restarted the app
• tried the app with a different podcast episode
• deleted some podcasts to which I am not subscribed but keep in my Shows list (for occasional episodes that I want to hear). While I was deleting said podcasts, the app crashed repeatedly.
• restarted the phone (three times)
• offloaded the app via General->Settings->Storage->Podcasts, and redownloaded it, twice (with crashes in between)

Crashes after each of these steps, and even if I get the app to start playing the podcast episode, it crashes after 5-30 seconds.

Finally, I’ve put the phone in airplane mode, and have been able to complete one episode (about 20 minutes), and resume an earlier podcast that I thought might have been corrupted.

(Coincidentally, I had similar issues with the Pages app yesterday, and I took the same steps (offloading and restoring the app) before I could access the files on my iPad.).

I listen to Podcast every day at work. This issue just started this morning 12/09/19. The app crashes every 5 - 10 seconds, sometimes it will go a little longer, maybe one minute. I just installed iOS 13.2.3 just now, and then re-opened Podcasts ,and BOOM, it still crashed after about 5 seconds of playing!!!

Please get this fixed!!!

Same here! I disconnected my AirPods (thinking it was them), I reset my XR, I removed and reinstalled the app, I changed WiFi networks...to no avail. Frustrating! I operating on the same updated system as you too. My phones just days “new”!

I have 8 plus. My podcast crashes either instantly or up to 25 to 20 seconds after playing. If I get the podcast downloaded and then put it on airplane mode it works. Seems to be whenever something runs in the background it shuts down.

I listen to 4-6 hours of podcasts per day. I am a loyal Apple Podcast user. This just started happening today.

I tried offloading the app and reloading.

I tried rebooting the phone.

I updated to the latest version of IOS. 13.2.3

This is by far the most used app I have other than TEXT messages. There has to be a fix!!!! I am willing to delete the app and lose all my information and start fresh but I dont want to do that if it wont fix this problem.

Same problem here. Just spent 40 min on phone/chat with Apple Support. Seems like there’s an issue with the app. Another tech will call me back around 1:30PM today so they can troubleshoot it... we will see....

Me too. I’ve rebooted, also uninstalled the Podcasts app. Tried to re-install, got an error message, tried again, re-install worked. Played podcast. App failed again after a minute or so.

Not good enough, Apple, it used to be that we were forced into an upgrade after two years. My XS is only a year old and was working perfectly before iOS update for iPhone 11. Most of my friends are getting Google phones because of this. Seriously guys, get it together, this is unacceptable to expect people to pay in excess of $1,000 every year for a phone that’s buggy. I was one of the first into an iPhone 3 in 2008 so I’ll be sad to leave

My Apple Podcasts app began crashing this morning, 09 Dec 19. I rebooted my iPhone 8 several times, closed and reopened the app itself, updated all apps needing an update (which did NOT include the Podcasts app), and then updated the OS to iOS 13.2.3, and again updated all apps needing an update. Still happening, even if it's the only app running. Basically can't listen to a podcast because it crashes within a minute of two of starting to listen.

I started having this issue this morning. At first I thought it was my AirPods until I saw the podcast app crash. I haven’t updated my phone (I’m still on 13.1) so I don’t know this has started since nothing new has happened. I used my podcast app on Fri with no issues.

Mine started crashing this morning even before i updated to the latest iOS (13.2.3). Worked fine all day yesterday (12-8-19). It will play for a minute or two then crash or crash after a few seconds of playing.

I am experiencing the same issue. The Podcast App kept failing the same way. I would play a podcast, the podcast would run for (about) five minutes, the podcast app would crash.

I re-started my phone (iPhone 8 Plus) several times to no avail. I then noticed that I had a software update. I updated to 13.2.3 because I know that Apple Support will say, “Are you on the latest iOS?” However; after updating the iOS, deleting the podcast app off my phone, and re-installing the podcast app on my phone - the podcast app still does not work.

One thing I did notice: When I first was experiencing the problem, the podcast would play for about five minutes. When I would then re-launch the app after it crashes, the podcast would play for about two minutes. Upon a third re-launch of the podcast app, the app would crash after 30 to 60 seconds. It seems almost like the crash patterns were halving themselves.

I didn't do any updates as I usually take care of those when they are released. Anyway.... yep, my podcast app is crashing! my ipad is crashing too, although less frequently. Any relief on the horizon? I listen to podcasts all day every day at work, this is going to impact my 'Apple' experience greatly :(

I'm having the same issue....very frustrating. Initially it was every 5-10minutes it would crash, now it is crashing in 30 seconds or less. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, rebooting, etc. Nothing seems to be fixing the issue. The app even crashes when no podcast is playing. I am going to download another podcast app until this issue is fixed, I'd recommend that. I have the Xr on the latest iOS (13.2.3).

Based on the number of reports of it just starting this morning (12/9) it seems to be a widespread issue and not sure it's IOS related - I'm way back on IOS 12.4.1 and the issue started for me this morning as well.
