There is a ? where i photo icon used to be on my imac

I can't access my photos on my imac. There is a ? instead of the i photo icon.

Greyed out photo icon I have a 2018 MacBook with an external HD that had my photos app and all my photos on. I upgraded my macbook with a new larger HD and wanted to move my photos back to the macbook. After moving everything I tried to access my photos via a web browser ( so I could attach photos to my web site) and my photos app appears greyed out. I know my photos are there because I can access them via the app that is on my desktop but, just can't see them when I use the browser. Any ideas why I can't get to my photos app through my web browser?

Photos Desktop Alias? I am preparing to move files to a new computer. I'm confused about what appears to be a Photos alias on my desktop. Since I see the Photo app in the dock, why would I also have a Photos icon on my desktop? How can I tell if it is just an alias? Thank you.

Are you talking about the old discontinued iPhoto app? Or about the new Photos app (the replacement)? That one should be in your Applications folder.
