iTunes will not let me add music to my library from my computer

I am no longer able to add music from my computer to my itunes library (on my windows 10 laptop).

I can't add it by file or folder. I've tried every fix that other members have suggested and none of them work. I refuse to purchase songs I already own just to get them into my library. I am so irritated and have hated itunes ever since they made it an app. Is anyone else experiencing this right now, and if so, has a fix been found yet?

Windows, Windows 10

Hello MissLove and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see you're having some issues adding new content to iTunes running on a Windows 10 computer.

What exactly happens when you try to add content? Are you getting an error message? Are you using the Add to Library command under the File menu in iTunes or are you trying to drag and drop files?

The more info you can provide, the better the chances that someone in the community can help.

If you continue to experience this problem, you may want to consider removing and reinstalling iTunes to give yourself the best possible foundation moving forward.

If the tips there do not resolve the issue, you'll find a link at the end of the article that will allow you to contact Apple Support for further help.

Cheers.

See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows - Apple Community. If there is some reason that iTunes doesn't want to add the files, permissions, invalid format, already part of the library, etc. then there won't be any error messages. Copying into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder inside the media folder will normally work, and any rejected items are moved into a Not Added folder which at least confirms there is a problem.
