canon printer filter failed

My Canon MP560 recently stopped working, show "filter failed." Other printer (Canon MG7500) continues to work flawlessly. Only change I can recall is routine Mac security update. Tried turning printer off and on. Should I delete and reinstall, try to update drivers...or what? Any help is appreciated as I am not very computer savvy. Thanks.

Hi there, grtaft!

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities about your Canon MP560 printer. If I understand, it has recently stopped working with an error "filter failed", while another Canon printer you own has no issues. I'm happy to help!

Based on what you've described, I would recommend using the following articles from Apple Support to troubleshoot: Solve printing problems on Mac - Apple Support and If you can't print from your Mac or iOS device - Apple Support.

Canon also has the following troubleshooting for a similar issue on older Mac operating systems: Canon Knowledge Base - "Filter Error" occurs or printout is incorrect when using the OS X El Capitan (10.11) driver on a Mac OS X Sierra (10.12) system.

Cheers!
