iPad mini aux audio input?

Can I use an adapter to run an auxiliary audio (3.5mm) IN to an iPad?

I’m running 3/4 mics through a Zoom H6 and I was hoping to eliminate the need to save the audio and video files separately and sync them later in iMovie....

if I avoid the USB connection, and use a lightning to 3.5mm plus a trs/trrs adapter... with the 3/4 channels of audio be combined into stereo and then recognized by the iPad as the audio for the video being taken in the Camera app?
