Can’t use iMessage after iOS update

I updated my iPad to the latest iOS, 13.3, and got booted out of iMessage. When I try to log back into it again, I get an error message after several minutes of trying saying it can’t reach the iMessage server, and directs me to the Settings app to fix it. I open the Settings app and go to the Messages section. It starts spinning and displays a progress status “Verifying”. Eventually it stops not being able to reach the server.


I have no idea why it logged me out of iMessage, and right now I’m blocked out of it.


Please advise as to how to restore access to iMessage.
