Getting pictures from old iPhone

I had an iPhone 7 a few years ago, and one day the screen just got darker and darker until it just went black. I thought the phone was backed-up on iCloud, and it mostly was, except for pictures apparently. I decided just to upgrade to the iPhone 8, which I still currently have. When I activated the phone, mostly everything was there, except the pictures, but I couldn't see the screen on the old phone to update iCloud settings, decided I would just take care of it later on my Mac, and left it alone. Fast Forward to today, I've been trying to get the pictures off of my phone onto my Mac at least, which is familiar with the phone, but the phone has to be unlocked in order for me to connect to it. However, the screen is still black therefore I cannot unlock. Does anyone know a way for me to unlock the phone without paying to have the screen replaced?
