Hello, my iwatch 4 has started randomly constantly syncing. How can i make this stop?
Apple Watch Series 4, watchOS 6
This started happening to my Apple Watch 1 series sport when I upgraded phones to the i-phone XR.
I contacted Apple support and discovered that there is a recent iOS upgrade to 13.6 (issue was occuring with 13.5.1).
I'm happy to say that following an update on the phone and a un-pairing and re-pairing exercise the watch is working as expected (so far).
It will randomly just go to the screen where it’s updating, where the circle fills up/spins. When I go to the watch app it tells me it is syncing. It started doing it a couple of days ago. Today it did it twice.
Did you ever find a fix for this? I am going through this now (even bought a new watch thinking my series 1 had just become obsolete). Now it randomly syncs. They are sending me to the Apple Store, but I'd rather not make that trip.
I’m having the same issue myself... started yesterday - gets hung up on “sync” and I have to reset the device in order to get it back to working mode. Happened twice yesterday and I woke up this morning and it’s done it again! WTF!
I’ve been having the same problem with the series 3 watch paired to an iPhone 7 running the accursed iOS13. It’s not happening daily (that I’ve noticed), but appears to be completely random. The “syncing circle” can take over an hour to finish, and usually doesn’t complete fully before restarting once or twice. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern to it, the sync will start on its own whether the watch is on the charger or not, and there is no pending software upgrade.
I’ve been having the same problem. I’ve had a Apple Watch series 1 for many years, currently synced to an iPhone 7 which has been working solidly until a few weeks ago when it decided to sync while wearing it. It’s currently doing it again while wearing and has gone thru one complete sync circle and is now going thru a second sync circle. Seems to be no rhyme or reason why this happens except that it has to be the last IOS update. Was going to get rid of the series 1 thinking obsolete but seems later models are having the same issue.
Thanks for the advice but already unpaired and re-paired and set up as new, when it did it the first time. But still decided to sync on its own yesterday. Has never been a problem until a few weeks ago. Pretty frustrating when it randomly seems to do this while wearing.
I am also having this issue. It began when I was traveling in late December, so I assumed something had gone wrong with an update when the sync wheel came on during a run. I reset the watch to factory settings and set it up as a new watch. This seemed to have resolved the problem for about a week before the sync wheel presented itself again and has continued to happen intermittently for the last few weeks. Just yesterday the sync wheel popped up again, but finished a revolution in about an hour, so I didn't reset. This morning shortly after starting a workout the sync wheel reappeared, so I reset to factory default yet again and as I write this thread the watch is locked up syncing for the second time today after reset. I really wish Apple would address this issue.
I notice EVERY morning that I get my phone I have to enter my pass code because the phone is apparently rebooting EVERY single night! So in my opinion the current operating system 6 for the watches ain't working with ios 13 for the phones. IOS 13 SUCKS!! I hate it and I pray everyday a fix comes out to fix it all. ALSO, my watch used to be fine for battery life for a whole day, and now I get the 10% warning every night! I've done everything to increase battery life, and nothing works. And this is all after ONLY updating the watch and it stopped being as good as it used to. I'm so sick and disgusted. I hate even complaining cause I don't want to hear it from Android heads....
I’m having this issue with my Series 4 watch too. This started in December, but it has gotten worse this week. This is my third watch in since July so I thought this was just another broken watch. I’m so tired of all these issues with the watch and the phone that I may have to switch back to Android after umpteen years.
I'm also having this problem. I have the Series 4 watch and my problems also started in December. I updated my watch to 6.1.2 only this morning and this afternoon the watch has decided to sync all by itself.
The iphone had an update release yesterday or whenever. I am PRAYING both updates on the phone and watch help... I'm holding my breath and only complaining here as I can never imagine going to the droid side, but this chit sucks!
I’m still using Series 1 Apple Watch and unfortunately I won’t receive software upgrades for this. But considering that people with later series watches are having this sync-problem daily, maybe I’ll just keep my Series 1 for now since I’ve had this problem only twice in the last 4 or 6 weeks. Hope the patch works for you!
Oops you meant iPhone upgrade.. I was babbling about the watch upgrade.. ok have to say the next iOS update is 13.3.1 for my iPhone 7 and I’m a little wary about updating.. still hope this fixes the problem!
Same thing is happening to my wife and I once or twice per week. Both running Apple Watch S4 and iPhone 7 (hers is a 7 plus). Pretty annoying, especially during workouts. Hard to rely on having your watch as a standalone cellular device (leaving phone at home) when you have to worry about whether it's going to be unusable for an hour at a time.
Hi Jettsica,
You and I are on the same devices, series 1 watch, iPhone 7. I am now running IOS 13.3.1 right after my last post and the watch hasn’t updated on me yet..
Before the iOS update, my reset only happened twice about 6 weeks apart.. yours was still syncing daily. There must be some other factor going on that we’re not aware of. Hope 13.3.1 works for you.
