Quicktime fails in .mov convertion

Hello, i realized i can't play some .mov files which didn't show any problems before upgrading to Catalina.

i find curious that neither After Effect Rendered comp, exported in .mov can't be played.

The message box says:

"The document "****" could not be opened. The file isn't compatible with Quicktime"

or

"The file contains some media that isn't compatible with Quicktime Player. Would you like to open the file anyway?"

Then if I open that file through the box, it doesn't get rendered.

With Total video converter lite i can play and export those video in HD .mov, in order to be valid for QuickTime player, but that process isn't quick :) Also 5kPlayer is working well for playback.

Once upon a time Quicktime was converting by itself the media.

Is there a quick fix for this issue? maybe new codecs?

Hello LucaErb,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand some files are not being opened with QuickTime. I'ld be happy to help.

During when the Mac was on Mojave, these steps should have been completed: If QuickTime Player converts legacy media files before playing them

If you remember this happening or if there are issues with newly-created .mov files, try this: If an audio or video file doesn't play on Mac

Best regards.
