I can't move my folders around on the home page
of my MacBook Pro like I used to? I want to move them to the other side of the screen but they won't move?

Are you referring to the Desktop(?)
Verify your preferences. Control click on the Desktop to reveal the contextual menu:
make changes to stacks / sort by /view options
