Play ALL Search Reults in Music Software

Is there a way to Play ALL Song Search Results from a specific Artist (on Compilation & Individual albums) in the Music software?

In the old iTunes, if you searched your Library for Songs by an Artist, or containing that Artist, you had the ability to Play All results. However, now in Music (the software) if you search for Songs by a specific Artist, you can Only Play one of the Songs, which then plays the rest of the Album containing that Song, not the remaining Search Results.

If the Song that you are listening to, is on a Compilation Album (one that contains a mix of Artists, not only 1 specific Artist), the selected song will play, then the rest of that Album. Now, If you wanted to listen to songs that you own, performed by Cold Play, and you searched for those Songs, if one is on a Compilation Album, the rest of the Album that is by another artist will continue to play, after your selected song containing Cold Play. For example, The Chainsmokers & Cold Play, have created a song which can be found on an Album by The Chainsmokers. If you wanted to listen to that song, along with the rest of Cold Play's songs in your Library, the other search results Will NOT Play, instead the rest of The Chainsmokers' Album, with that 1 song, will continue to play (if you also own a copy of that Album by The Chainsmokers).

Again, is there a way to Play ALL Song Search Results from a specific Artist (on Compilation & Individual albums) in the Music software?

I understand you are trying to listen to all of the songs in your library by a particular artist. The best way to do this is to create a smart playlist, rather than performing a search. Here's how:

Take care.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for your helpful suggestion.

Unfortunately, there are still some other issues. If you just want to listen to 1 song by an Artist, and you search for that 1 song, the entire Album will play. So there is No Way in Apple Music to have a song Repeat 1 time or Continuously, unless you create a Playlist with only that one song. Because in Apple Music, Search Results appear in a Grid, as opposed to iTunes where the results would automatically create a Playlist of Search Results. In Apple Music, a Playlist of Search Results is Not Created, so when one clicks on an item in the Grid, this causes the entire Album to play.

Sorry, I failed to Edit or Delete this Post, a little more than 24-hours ago. I've been talking to certain AppleCare Senior Advisors and they were surprised when I was easily able to get them to recreate this issue. Because of this an other issues with Apple Music, the Engineering Department is now looking into finding resolutions to this and other problems. When there's an updated release of Apple Music, hopefully one will have the ability to hit ⌘J (command + J) to change the view from Playlist to Songs. Then Search Results will appear as they did in iTunes, and Apple Music will generate a Search Result Playlist.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for your helpful suggestion.

I discovered a way to do this, which is not an easy way for a average users to figure out.

While in Apple Music:

  1. Click on Songs, in the Library section (on the left side of Apple Music & underneath the Search bar).
  2. Under the View menu, there's an option to click, "Show Filter Field ⇧⌘F".
  3. Upon doing so, a Filter box will appear in the Top Right of Songs listing.
  4. Enter the Song, Album or Artist.
  5. As you are typing, your library will narrow down and display what is being entered.
  6. When finished entering information, only items in the Filtered results will play.

Regards,
