Your free one year subscription is for Apple TV +

Apple TV + is Apple Original content. It’s a channel found within the Apple TV App. The shows included in your subscription will have the tv+ logo on them - those are free.

About Apple TV+ - Apple Support

Movies that say rent or buy are from the iTunes Store and not free.

This is not like Netflix etc, where all is included in the one App. Nowhere does it state you have access to the entire iTunes catalogue. Those movies are owned and sold by the Film Producers or whoever owns the rights to them, which is not Apple.

Its pretty confusing to me being a person whose new to Apple devices. The app is called Apple TV, the offer is 1 year free of Apple TV+👈.

Obviously based on the name, a reasonable person would assume that your getting everything in the Apple TV app plus some extras. But no, your getting basically nothing in the Apple TV app except the stuff that should have been free to begin with😅.

Apple should change the name of the App or the streaming service to avoid confusion, or just give this content away for free to give people a reason to even open that app. Just my opinion.

If one had already subscribed then they would have claimed the standard trial. As per the terms one cannot combine the 12 month offer with any other offer or trial. Hence, they would no longer qualify by official means. One would be free to contact Apple to get an exception, but it would be within their discretion. The terms also make it clear that it is one offer regardless of of number of items purchased. Those terms would be standard and hardly isolated to Apple.

Sorry, but it doesn't require "wading through a pool of this and that'. Apple TV Plus is very clearly marketed as a service for Apple originals only. Furthermore, there is a clear section within the TV app for Apple TV Plus, which shows exactly what is offered within that service. One also has to go into that section in order to claim the offer. If that is what you are basing your statement on then i'm sorry, but it doesn't hold any weight.

I have no intentions of providing credit card info!

When you start any subscription, including Apple TV+, you will need to provide a payment method in advance for the monthly subscription fees after the trial, whether you intend to continue or not. It doesn’t have to be a credit card, although that is probably easiest and safest. Without valid payment method, you will not be able to subscribe. You won’t be billed (for this) until the subscription transitions after the trial. If you cancel in time, then you won’t be billed at all for this subscription.

The offer is for one year of Apple TV+ for free, so nobody gets ‘ripped off’ when their first year is indeed for free. And they hope you stay for the quality content. It is not a giveaway, it is a lure, an elongated trial period, and that’s okay.

Just because something is free doesn't mean you can just assume and then complain because it wasn't what you thought it was.

There are select people who also make that assumption, and it has nothing to do with searching terms and conditions. It is all laid out very easily and it is clear to see in marketing, any readily available documentation on the service as well as the fact the it clearly shows what is available in the Apple TV Plus service when in the app. Also, when one goes to claim the offer they would have to navigate there anyway where they can very easily browse what is available.

Hulu has a select library of programming and that is a promo price. It doesn't have anywhere near what iTunes offers, plus the selection from other Apple TV channels. All of which you were expecting to have access to here.

I also had the same experience and I am left with the same feelings. This is not a right campaign for Apple. You are attracting customers into a bad deal under the illusion that they have access to Apple TV, and they don't. Your 'promotion' should read: limited time offer, you can have access to Apple originals in Apple TV, all the rest you have to pay for. That would have been more honest. You are granting me access to Apple TV after I spent a total of 16,000 dollars in Apple products, thank you but I don't really like what I see on offer for 'free', and anything I like I have to pay.

Totally, TOTALLY disappointed.

After receiving a new iPhone I also have received an offer for a Free 1 year subscription to Apple TV+. Without knowing ahead of time that Apple TV & Apple TV+ are two different programs a reasonable person would have assumed that the offer is for a free year to watch Apple TV--and I think that Apple knows that. After reading the comments here I agree that there is misleading intent and I have chosen Not to activate my subscription.

The service now consists of 22 shows and 4 movies. New content has consistently been added each month. The app not only consists of other Apple TV channel subscriptions, but content from the iTunes store (available for purchase or rental). That TV app was available long before the streaming service and it's purpose is to consolidate content from various providers into one interface.

Totally agree. I bought a new iPhone 11 and it kept on giving me a reminder that I had 90 days to start a 12 month free apple tv subscription. I never knew that there was an Apple TV Lite, which they call Apple TV Plus. Very misleading and really disappointing. I thought that Apple was a reputable company. I've read the reply from the (not) Apple person who says that people like me didn't do due diligence. I tell you what mate, your answer is incorrect. The Apple TV Plus free promotion is misleading, particularly for a person buying a new apple device. It should be stated very clearly that to watch, say, Bad Education, or GoT, involves an additional cost.
