iOS 13.3 iPhone Xs ringer volume changes itself

I recently upgraded my iPhone Xs to iOS 13.3 and the ringer keeps resetting itself to maximum volume. It's happened three times today alone. I'll turn the volume down using the buttons on the side of the phone like I normally do. The "ringer" status indicator drops down from the top of the screen confirming my input. I'll then lock the screen and set the phone aside for a period of time only to be startled by a notification at full blast. When I unlock the phone and use the side buttons to adjust the ringer again, the status indicator confirms the volume is at max.

There's no chance I'm accidentally pushing the side buttons here. The phone is definitely doing this on its own.

Hello and thank you for your response.

Unfortunately this did not resolve the problem. However I have figured out how to reproduce it - the phone sets the ringer volume to 100% anytime it's placed on a charger. This happens with any charger: The lightning port on the dock in my car does it. The wireless chargers on my desk and on my nightstand do it. How can I stop this behavior?

When I take the phone off the charger, the ringer volume does not go back to where I left it. It just stays at 100%. So I am constantly having to turn the ringer volume down.

Hi there, ryanusa.

I see that, after you adjust the volume of the ringtone on your iPhone, it resets itself to a higher level without your adjusting it. I'm glad to help with this.

Adjust the volume on iPhone -- As a test, lock the ringer and alert volumes once you're done setting the volume. The steps that you need under "Lock the ringer and alert volumes in Settings" on this page of the iPhone User Guide.

About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro -- If the volume still resets itself, turn off Attention Aware Features under Settings > Face ID & Passcode. Set the volume where you'd like it, lock the screen and ask someone to give you a call.

Let me know how that goes, and take care!
