How can i hide/remove photos from “all photos” but keep them in albums

Hello - I’d like to keep some photos in albums, but not have them show up in my main timeline. Is there a way to do that. Hiding seems to hide them from all locations except the “hidden” album. Open to all suggestions.

As per this auricle https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT207368

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, the All Photos album shows your entire collection in the order you added them to your library.

So if you hide photos from an iPhone https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT205891

They will be hidden in albums also ( the photos are synced with iCloud server as the box of photos is turned as on and it is set up in an iPhone https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204264

All the photos that are on server will mirror in albums , so what are you expecting to remove or hide photos is not possible , if you delete photos from iCloud.com the same will be deleted from an iPhone and placed into recently deleted folder for 30 days and moved permanently after 30 days see this https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/iphone/iph3d267610/ios

Which system version do you have installed?

In Photos 5.0 on Catalina the Photos > Days are showing only a curated selection. You will automatically be seeing less photos in the Days, mostly the photos you marked as Favorites.

Otherwise you would have to implement your own hiding.

  • Mark the photos, you want to show with a keyword "Dont_Skip" or similar.
  • Add the keyword "Dont_Skip" to the Quick Group in the Keyword Browser.
  • Then you can use the filter "Showing Only" in the upper right corner of the Photos Window. IF you check "Don't_Skip" in this Filter, you will only see the photos you marked with "Don't_Skip"

Thanks - I have photos on my iPad and iPhone not on a Mac. The iPad is operating on the latest system 13.3.

You’re not wrong that it shows less photos, but I’m working on cleaning out photos and I want to keep clean some out (such as the ones i use for donations and am keeping for tax return records). Please let me know if that changes anything or if there’s an easy way to hide some of those photos.

Thank you!

Sorry, I thought you were using a Mac, because your question is in the Photos for Mac forum.

On the iPad or iPhone it is even harder, because you cannot use keywords or smart albums.

Hiding Photos is all you can do to remove them from the main Photos view. Or try to remove all favorite hearts from the photos you do not want to see in Photos > Days, so the "Curating" will suppress them (if you are lucky).
