Live photo zooms in when choosing another photo as Key Photo

When I want to edit live photo and choose another photo with ”Make Key Photo”, the photo zooms in. As a result I get this live photo zoomed and with cut off edges. Thus I loose objects that where on the edges of the photo.

I noticed this problem was reported already by others, but there was no helpful answer for that. Is this a bug?

Thanks.

Hi han4,

Thank you for reaching out again and providing those screenshots.

What you're experiencing is expected behavior. While you're selecting your key photo, the picture does zoom in a bit. Once you have selected the photo and save your changes, the image will return to normal, and no longer be zoomed in. If it is, you can go back into the edit menu and tap the red "Revert" option to bring it back to the original.

Best Regards.

Thanks for comments. After choosing another key photo and saving the image it stays zoomed in And does not return to normal. Reverting is not a solution because this will revert also back to original key photo.

As I understand it is an expected behaviour and there is no way to have new key photo NOT zoomed in. I am a bit disappointed but try to consider this when taking photos.

Hi XXX,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you are having an issue with a live photo zooming in when choosing another photo as Key Photo.

For this issue, I would recommend some basic troubleshooting like restarting and making sure iPhone is updated. It is always a good idea to have a backup of your iPhone before updating.

Hi

I have installed ios13.3, but the result of my tests is still unchanged. See attached printscreens.

1: original photo

2: live photo choosen another Key photo: persons on left and right are zoomed in and edges cut off

Final photo on Photos app is same as photo2, zoomed, edges cut off.

Same happens when choosing whatever another Key photo.

This is very annoying when want to choose better photo from live photo, then people on the edges will disappear or cut off.
