Facetime freeze on iMac

When I answer a Facetime call on my iMac it hooks up, but the picture of the caller freezes immediately and remains that way. They can see me, and I can still hear them...but frozen pic on my end. Also I can't make any video calls out (even to people on my list that I've called before). How do I fix this?

Why does FaceTime always crash on my 2023 MacBook Pro? I've been so extremely disappointed that a main feature I got my MacBook for, FaceTime compatibility, is a hoax. I cannot talk on FaceTime in a group or private call for more than 2-5 minutes without the call dropping and saying "call failed." Facetime issues When I receive a video call (or video call someone), the screen appears black, they can't hear me and I can't hear them either. The same thing happens with audio calls - I can't hear them and they can't hear me. The only solution I have is to call the person again (or them calling me again) in order for the FaceTime call to function properly (although it doesn't always work - it works most of the time). This is in spite of my Mac being updated to the latest OS (macOS Big Sur 11.4). I would appreciate someone's help since this wastes a GREAT DEAL of my time and productivity. Thanks

My Facetime screen freezes Specs: Macbook Pro 2021 16-inch. Facetime works and the call quality is fine, but my picture is freezing when I am on a call, the recipient screen is fine, it is only my screen that freezes. It will work for a few seconds where I can see myself move and talk and then the screen will freeze for the entire duration of the call. I have restarted the laptop and force quit and restarted the app and call. Any advice?

Worked fine in safe mode. Then I rebooted and tried again and it worked!

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
