My windows laptop won't recognize my ipad. IT will recognize my iphone. I have installed and updated iTunes. My computer does not appear to have Apple Mobile Device Service. I have followed the support page for restarting AMDS, but it simply doesn't show up in the program files or the services.msc list. I really need to connect the ipad.

Thanks, but that doesn't help. When the iPad is connected, nothing shows up in the universal service bus controllers item for anything related to the iPad. If my iPhone is connected, it shows up there, but as iPhone something, not the AMDS item.
Unlock the device before connecting to USB. Do you hear the Windows device connection sound? If not check for fluff in the docking port that might be preventing a good connection. You'll only have AMDS if you're using the old school installer for iTunes, not the version from the Microsoft Store.
