Announce messages

When I’m wearing my AirPods I have announce messages turned on. I’ve found it to be really helpful when I’m out walking my dogs. Unfortunately it works sporadically for example a message will come in I’ll hear the notification noise Siri will come on say the name of the person who sent the message that’s it! It doesn’t continue to read the message. Does anyone else have or had this issue and if so what did you do to fix it?

I’m using a iPhone XS Max running iOS 13.3. I have 2nd generation AirPods

Hello YellowLabMom12_19.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that Siri isn’t reading your messages that you receive when wearing your AirPods. You are only hearing Siri announce the message senders name. I’m happy to help.

Please try the steps in the section titled “If you don’t hear Siri announcements” here: Announce Messages with Siri on AirPods - Apple Support

Take care.

This is the same issue I have been reporting to Apple for the last several months. I have sent Apple log files, etc. at their request, however, they have still not provided a fix or response. There is nothing wrong with your phone, this is an issue with Apple on their side. The problem seems to be sporadic and only in certain areas of the country. Very frustrating!
