Warranty support for MagSafe adapter
Hi,
I purchased MagSafe adapter 6 months back.
It has 2 problems.
- The magnet is weak and the adapter comes of relatively easily
- The cord now has a cut in it. The cut was actually a result of the heating near the head of the adapter which plugs into the Macbook.
I thought it would be easier to claim warranty on the basis of a weak magnet. Having to convince the service provider that the small cut is due to hit would take a lot of time. Moreover, there is discoloration of the cord to prove that the problem is due to heat. But I decided the easy way.
The service provider is not willing to accept either. He is also not ready to state that the problem of magnet is due to cut. He is simply trying to squirm out of the warranty.
He says the warranty is null simply because there is a cut in the cord. The cut has nothing to do with the magnet itself. However, he says it is irrelevant.
Can someone help me understand if my warranty is actually void?
The magnet problem has been around right from the beginning. Therefore I am 100% sure it has nothing to do with the cut that has happened due to heating.
I have observed the discolouration and bad magnet for sometime. However, I kept postponing the visit to the service center due to a hectic schedule. The cut appeared a little while ago. I have intentionally posted the picture that shows the cut widened showing the worst case scenario. Please advise.
