Rogue email address in the From list when composing an email

Hello,

This morning I was writing an email on my iPhone 7 plus and I hit the from field to change the email address account from my default and I noticed a rogue email address in the list that is not mine nor is it familiar. It is a long name with numbers @my.minibox.email. This doesn't belong to me and when I look in passwords and accounts this email address is not in there. I am quite concerned on how it got there and what it is doing to my email accounts/phone. Everything about email is functioning normally.

Has anyone experienced this or know what I need to do to get rid of it? Is it malware?

Thanks in advance!

Hey there mgregory211,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re seeing an email you don’t recognize appearing in the From section of a Mail message on iOS. I’ll be happy to help.

Do you have a profile installed on your iPhone? If so, the email address may have come from there. Go to Settings > General > Profiles or Profiles & Device Management to verify. If you want to remove this profile and app associated with it, follow the steps here:

How to delete an app that has a configuration profile on your iPhone

It may also help isolate the issue if you make sure your iPhone is completely up to date. Take a look at these articles for info on this:

I hope this helps.
