The touch bar on my husband's MacBook Pro somehow cracked and is no longer working. We have no idea what happened. The computer is also shutting off randomly.
It looks like up to 2 claims of accidental damage is covered under Apple Care, with a surcharge of $99 for screen/external case damage or $299 for other damage. I'm just trying to figure out how much the repair will cost us.

So sorry to hear about the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro cracking! My best guess is that Apple will indeed charge a Touch Bar repair as "other damage" as it's not technically considered a display. I wish I had better news!
We cannot tell you what the GeniusBar will say. The "shutting off randomly" suggests (but that is just my humble opinion, not Apple's) another issue in the system reached the touchbar.
Ask them, as I may be completely wrong.
$300 is better than 100% out of pocket!
