why does apple tv have internal HD? for what use?

and why i can't share photos from my iMac to the apple tv?

What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

Some of the information below only applies to the current models.


The internal storage of the Apple TV box is for the system software (tvOS), for apps, for settings files, and for cached data. It is not a network-attached storage disk for you to use.


You can share photos from your Mac to the Apple TV (without storing them), using Home Sharing or iCloud.

You can set a screen saver from (some of) those photos, then a cached version is stored until changed on the Apple TV, to keep the screen saver available when the source services are offline.
