Can't Sign Into iTunes (error 50)

I'm trying to sign into iTunes to check my authorization status on my Windows 10 computer, but every time I click sign in, I am instantly presented with 2 of the same error messages...

We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later.

If I try to view my account on another computer that I'm already signed into, I get a message saying that I need to update iTunes to the latest version, which I refuse to do. Are these two related?

Yes, they are related. Since October 15 (maybe longer), versions of iTunes older than 12.6.5.3 are no longer supported by the iTunes Store. If you refuse to update iTunes to the latest version because you like to manage apps from your PC, then 12.6.5.3 is now the ONLY iTunes version that might perhaps suit your purposes. Here's another thread about the same issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250783805. However, the text of your error message suggests to me that you are using an extremely old version for reasons I could only guess, since you say you are running Windows 10 and not XP:

One computer, which holds my music library, has version 10.7 installed. The other, which is a laptop that I'm trying to de-authorize but doesn't have anything important on it, has version 11.4 installed. Both computers have Windows 10 on them.

I'm going to guess that my other problem with the iTunes store is also related to support being discontinued for those versions, which too started around October 15. There you can read why I don't want to update to 12. I can only hope that the next major version of iTunes (if that will ever happen) will revert back to the way version 10 was.

Thanks for specifying the affected iTunes versions and for posting a link to your earlier thread about inability to preview songs. There was another post by an iTunes 10.7 user who couldn't preview songs recently: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250989839.

According to Wikipedia's History of iTunes, version 10.7 was released on September 12, 2012, and it was actually the first version to support Windows 8. (I wonder if you had to run 10.7 in compatibility mode, since Windows 10 didn't appear until July 2015 and has undergone several major updates in subsequent years?) Apple's decision to effectively banish old versions from the iTunes Store has been upsetting to many, including me; but I'm sure there were valid security reasons. Would we want to share our credit card information with an online business that supported browser versions from 2012?

Oddly, a special link is now required to visit Page 2 of that thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250783805?answerId=251935667022#251935667022.
