AirPort Express Amber light solid/blinking

So, after years of service suddenly my AirPort Express (ae) has an amber light. By holding the reset button while I plugged it in (after 30 min of rest) it went from solid to blinking. Not much help, really.

I let it rest again.

I restarted my basestation and modem.

I then plugged the ae in near the base station and also connected the ae via router cable directly to the computer.

opened AirPort utility. The ae was not listed as a device HOWEVER I clicked on that little box in the upper left corner “Other Devices” (OX not iOS) and found it there. At that point there was a series of instructions in successive windows which I easily followed. And I am back in business.

fair warning; I am an amateur so I was making this up as I went along. Several years ago a kindly Apple rep helped me through a similar (or exactly the same?) procedure. Stumbling through this took well over and two hours. I apologize if this does not work for you or if I left out some some small, forgettable, yet essential step. Good luck.
