Proper Battery use

I am totally new to Apple! Have a new 2019 MacBook Air & want to use it correctly to maximize the battery life. If I plug into power every time I plan to use it for an hour or so -- no matter how much battery life is left -- will this help preserve the battery? Or would it be better to use the battery until it is down to 20-30% & then recharge to 100%... use battery again?

As a rule of thumb: if you are near an AC outlet, leave it plugged in. If you need portability, use it on battery power. If it is all ear AC power, use battery power once every week or so.
