iPhone maps voice directions don’t work in car
Voice directions for iPhone XR MAPS don’t work in car while driving but work great when in our house. Why?

It would depend on how the vehicle's Bluetooth system handles the directions. If you have voice directions turned on in Maps, check your Bluetooth system in the car. It may require you to turn on a separate setting. You can also check the Audio Settings in Maps. There is an Output section, that allows you to select the iPhone or a Bluetooth device. You should only see the Bluetooth device while connected to it, so check that while in the vehicle and connected.
