Why does my MacBook Pro not recognize my iPhone?

I'm running Catalina on my MacBook Pro. I was going to try to back up my iPhone physically in addition to my iCloud backup, but when I selected my iPhone from the Finder menu, it says "Welcome to your new iPhone" with options to setup as a new device or restore from a backup I made over a year ago. This is an iPhone 7 Plus that I've had for years.

When I Google'd how to backup an iPhone on Catalina, the instructions showed exactly what I did, except there should be different options once I select my iPhone from "Locations".

Anybody know what's going on?
