Photos Displaying Wrong Device, Won’t Import Photos

I have an

iPad mini

iPhone XS (mine)

iPhone XR (daughter)

Suddenly when I plug in my primary iPhone XS to import and delete photos, my daughter’s iPhone XR (name) shows up in Photos 2.0 and it shows a lot of blank images to import but they of course don’t import bcz they’re not actually there.

I disconnect, quit and restart Photos, restart iMac, etc, but her phone keeps showing up in the import section and nothing can be done. My device is simply not showing up.

She is 12 so we do share the same Apple ID but this has never been an issue since we got her phone 14 months ago.

I read a couple threads that sounded similar but were not and didn’t have any actual answers anyway, so I hope no one says I should have searched more before posting ;)

Can anyone please help me figure out how to get rid of her phone appearing to show up when my device is connected?

My phone still shows up fine and runs backups in iTunes, so why is Photos suddenly trying to mount a phone that’s not plugged in?

Appreciate the reply Alex. Thank you! Although, the solution presented itself another way, after yet another search. Most of the User guide is set-up and use, which most of us already use daily :) I've heard a lot of Mac users are having this issue since the last iOS update, so hopefully this solution will help some people. I tried everything for several days except the one simple thing that WORKED!

SOLUTION (that worked for me): Swap USB port on the cable you're using.

-I also restarted iPhone for good measure prior to swapping USB

-Restarted Photos app

I had to dismount and unplug my 5TB LaCie drive and I just did a swap of that USB port with my charger cable USB port >|< and suddenly everything is all back to normal, including the external drive working fine on that other port. My daughter's iPhone name is now gone from Photos Import and my iPhone name is now mounted there. Thank Sasquatch!

SIDE NOTE: I don't recall EVER seeing any of my devices show up in the Finder window under Devices and I am still not seeing it. I have been paying attention to that for the past few months but I don't think it has ever shown up there in all the years I've owned Macs, since 1988-89 (ish). Only peripherals, like external hard drives, Mac Hard Drive, Remote Disc, app launchers and before DVDs were extinct, they would mount there. That's a whole other issue I will try to resolve.
