skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

Met0012, I bought some Comply foam ear tips. The ones I got were the Comfort 400 assorted sizes pack.

They worked fine, but unfortunately I didn't get to give them a really good tryout along with my whole ear covers — yup, I'm the "genius" :) — before I had to send the PBPs back to Apple. If the only reaction you get from the PBPs is inside your ear canals, then maybe different ear tips like the ones from Comply will solve the problem for you. For me the skin reaction was everywhere the PBPs touched my skin, so that's why I decided to try the now-defunct covers idea. Oh well... There are, of course, wireless earphones with ear hooks made by other manufacturers and I might give some of them a try, but again, what I really want is some PBPs that don't drive my ears crazy!

My father bought Powerbeats wireless headphones and after a few months started to get itchy ears both inside and where it hooked over his ears. They ended up looking like small burn marks and caused an infection in his ear. The doctors prescribed medication which didn’t clear the issue even after two types of antibiotics used. With the COVID restrictions in place they wouldn’t see him in person and ended up having to pay for a private medical appointment to see a doctor only to find out he now has a perforated eardrum and is now deaf in one ear.

Why Apple haven’t issued any warning regarding these products is beyond me. I wouldn’t ever recommend using them.

What I don’t understand is that if you are having this many consumers with the same issue that love the product, but have issues with the silicone tip why don’t they correct it. I explained to them that I don’t want a replacement. I want a tip that is allergy free. I have had Motorola silicone tips that I did not have an allergic reaction too. There is something in the silicone tip. You would think that Apple would be eager to get this fixed. I guess they are not.

camry410, for many (even most) of us in this discussion, it is not only the tips that cause the reaction but rather the whole body of the PBPs, anywhere any part of the PBPs touch our skin in and around the ears. But I take your point, and I've been puzzled by this, too, right from the start — why does Apple not seem to want to fix or at least publically acknowledge a known and not uncommon problem with a product that people say they love because of the great sound quality and the way the PBPs fit so securely and comfortably on our ears? Doesn't make sense. Perhaps Apple has become such a gigantic mega-corporation that it has lost any interest in attending to the "petty" concerns of its customers. Apple is a long, long way from its roots. Remember "Think Different"? It seems that Apple is thinking the same way all the other giant corporations are these days — it's all (and only) about the sacred bottom line. Sure, I got my danged refund for my PBPs, but what I really want is to be able to engage with a real human being at Apple, find out what is going on behind the scenes on this issue, and get a new pair of PBPs that doesn't drive my ears crazy! Is that asking too much? By its silence about all this, Apple is simply shooting itself in its corporate foot and alienating loyal customers like me (since 1992).

I went thru this - wore for a a few weeks, started to get the pain and discharge from the ears, rash, bleeding. Did not use for a couple months, then tried again and same issue. I went thru apple support, after about 3 months of back and forth describing the issue, sending photos of my ears, proof of purchase, etc. I did get a full refund after sending them in.

This happened to me with 2 separate pairs of power beats. I bought one, had this happen and the discharge and irritation lasted weeks I then bought another pair a few months later and the same thing happened again. This seems like something we should be contacting lawyers about not apple support. I don't need a refund they need to fix the actual problem. If it's happened to 100s of people it's no longer a coincidence.

Ugh!! I absolutely luv these Powerbeats sport and crushed cuz after each online zoom class of wearing them for 3 hours, I wake up with my ears itching and oozing. I’ve never had ear dermatitis, but since purchasing these last year, it’s been non-stop. I get it behind my ears where the hook is too, but it’s worse at the opening of the ears. I googled to see if anyone else is having that trouble. Yup!

I bought my Powerbeats Pro Wireless from Best Buy local retailer and I have been having the same issues with discharge in both ears. Went to my EN&T specialist and she took a culture sample and had it sent to the laboratory. The results came back as being yeast infection due to severe ear dermatitis. I have had the Powerbeats Pro wireless headset for a year. 1st time I wore them the infection was only in the right ear. Now when I wear them it has gotten equally alarming in both ears. Every time I get it I stop wearing them and after about two weeks it clears up. I have now resorted to wearing over the ear wireless headphones connected to my Yamaha Bluetooth stereo system and my ears have never felt better. Also my Apple wired headphones have never ever done this.
