skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

I had exactly the same issue. Although to took a while to develop. Probably 2-3 months of regular use. Now if I wear for 30 mins I get the symptoms and have to avoid using for a week for them to clear up.

i solved this by replacing the tips with those from a 3rd party. I found a company called Comply who make replacement tips for many different headphones. I think the main selling point is they are made from a special foam that gives great sound benefits as well as comfort. I ordered a set, I am in the UK so they took a few weeks to arrive. I have to say I have been impressed. They take a while to get used to. However I have had no reaction, so I am back using my Powerbeats pro without issue.

Yeah, that sounds par for the course. It's almost as if they're trying to make people give up on the process, or maybe they just don't trust their customers and assume at the start that we're trying to pull a fast one on them and so they have to perform a major "enquiry" for each case to make sure we're legit. That's why I make noises about Apple doing something to restore our faith in the company. It seems that at some point Apple has to admit publicly that there is a fault in the PBPs and they're going to fix it and make it right for all concerned, but I'd also like to see them announce that a new non-itch version of the PBPs will be produced. That's what I've wanted all along.

I was excited to see this discussion for I have been experiencing ear rashes for 3 months. I purchased the beats a year ago, loved them, no issues until lately. Once the issue started for me, I cannot wear them for more than 15 minutes before my ears are on fire. I agree with the statements here, Apple is big enough to recognize this issue and they should announce a replacement process or a link for getting a refund. The Beats are an amazing product, truly better than the iPods in my opinion. I would love to request a refund but I don't have 3 months to deal with this. Apple take a moment and respect your customers, it isn't hard to do, we are with you but this one issue is truly unsetting...

Myron, you like me and some others have reported that the itchiness didn't show itself right away after we bought our PBPs, maybe not manifesting itself for several months. I have to wonder if that might be an important clue to help Apple understand the underlying problem. I assume (but have no proof whatsoever) that Apple has scientists and medical people looking into this problem, and I for one would be willing to help them with their research. All they have to do is ask, but like so many other huge companies these days, Apple is probably fearful of getting sued. Such is the age we live in...

JahDave, I got the same "never heard of that problem before" response from the Apple advisor I first contacted a few months ago. I suppose it might have been true then, but I find it hard to believe that Apple advisors would not have heard of the problem by now. I know Apple is a big company, but surely by this time the problem has been flagged internally and should be common knowledge among advisors. Even though my experience with all the advisors I have dealt with has been very good, my cynical side tells me that advisors are instructed to give the "never heard of it" response to whatever the problem is, and if that is true, it does damage to Apple's reputation. I've been a loyal Apple customer since 1992 and I expect the company to be honest and straightforward with me and everybody else, and take full responsibility for its products. But don't get me started! :)

What is funny here, is I had a pair of Navy blue ones that I got for Christmas 2019. Loved them and never had any allergic reaction issues. Unfortunately I lost them in June and got the Ivory ones as a replacement. That is when I immediately starting having the allergic reaction. Not sure if its just color, never mfg process for beats. I love the beats and want another pair, but not sure I want to go through this again. Lots of unanswered questions

Is it the color?

New MFG process?

Did I suddenly develop allergy to silicone?

MY wife has green ones which she also got a xmas time and has no issues

We keep on getting the "we want to make sure you reach the right team" message above from an Apple Community Specialist (this time "rose—10") telling folks to get in touch with Apple Support, but the "Get Support" link just goes to a general support webpage. I think what is really needed is a dedicated link to a webpage that deals solely with the PowerBeats Pro ear problem so that people don't have to waste time going through a whole bunch of different Apple personnel before getting to someone who can deal with each person's case quickly and efficiently. And if any Apple advisors are still saying that they haven't heard of the problem before, that would deal a real blow to the company's credibility.

Ive had the same issues since December and they actually caused 2 perforated eardrums and hearing loss in one ear. My ears are still draining fluid. I sent the Beats to be investigated and now they don't want to pay for any of the medical bills , or hearing aid I know need. I requested to have my Beats sent back and they are saying they can't send them back or tell me the issue. They have basically stolen my property without me signing anything over to them. Any suggestions on what options I have left would be appreciated.
