skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

I had exactly the same issue. Although to took a while to develop. Probably 2-3 months of regular use. Now if I wear for 30 mins I get the symptoms and have to avoid using for a week for them to clear up.

i solved this by replacing the tips with those from a 3rd party. I found a company called Comply who make replacement tips for many different headphones. I think the main selling point is they are made from a special foam that gives great sound benefits as well as comfort. I ordered a set, I am in the UK so they took a few weeks to arrive. I have to say I have been impressed. They take a while to get used to. However I have had no reaction, so I am back using my Powerbeats pro without issue.

To funny and I must admit I totally agree with you too. Today I decided to call Apple Support to get the Beats replaced. My wife said here come the run around since I have been on the phone for 2 hours with 3 different people. So Apple, its clear you are not honoring your side of the deal, which is to put out products that don't hurt your customers. The time has come for you to do something about this, period of us as your customers will and I'll lead the charge. It was funny for me today too when the rep said could you send us pics of the issue, sure let me put them on so I damage my ears more, not! There already know the issue, so let's get on with them...

Skilduff, thanks for this really important info. I'm now trying to figure out why the Apple advisors we've spoken with over the last several months never mentioned any of this stuff, and claimed they had never heard of our problem. Is Apple so ginormous a company that such information can be known by people in one section of the organization but not by people in another section, people who should definitely be well informed about such things for the sake of the well-being of Apple customers? My faith wavers...

Skilduff, can you tell us how you first came across the Apple Support webpage, "Wearing your AirPods, EarPods, and Beats devices" (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211158)? I find it strange that although the page was "published" back in May, none of the Apple advisors I talked with ever mentioned it, and I assume the same is true for everyone else in this discussion. I'm sure your Irish journalist will find all this very interesting. :)

I_rina, I assume you are an Apple employee, so do you have any information about what Apple is doing to find out what is causing the problem we are all having? Being directed to Apple’s Support people is helpful, but what we all really want to know is what is causing this problem and what Apple is doing to fix it. Many people In this discussion like biljana49 immediately above (‘... I really love them and they fit perfectly”) have said they really like the design of the Powerbeats Pros, and I’m sure many like me would be willing to buy new Powerbeats Pros if we could be assured that we could use them without suffering those awful skin reactions. So, what we’re looking for is some word from Apple that they acknowledge the problem and are working on a solution. I really don’t think this is too much to ask.

Okay, I just looked and it seems that MCP is "medical care plan", and "total cover" is some kind of insurance coverage, but hold it, I see also that "PETG" is some kind of plastic. So now I'm back to asking what you mean by "MCPs" and "total cover"? Are MCPs a model of Bose earphones (couldn't find them online) and is the "total cover" you mention actually a physical covering (made of PETG) that goes over the MCPs and thereby isolates the skin from the material the MCPs are made of? Links would be helpful.

Yeah, a couple of weeks for me, too. But some people seem to have suffered for longer and with worse effects than I've experienced. 3 weeks or so ago I left a phone message with the Apple advisor who handled the last stage of getting my refund asking her if there is any word on what Apple is planning to do about this situation and have not heard back.

i have all the same symptoms. My right ear, outside(sideburn area) has a open sore that won’t heal and oozes like behind my lobes and inside my ears. Still waiting on a chat session to begin with Apple Support. What is the outcome and how has Apple Support been able to help? I don’t want these Power Beats anymore. I’ve sanitized them and go days without them on. But the moment they are worn, the next day my rash and itchiness resumes.
