skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

Met0012, I bought some Comply foam ear tips. The ones I got were the Comfort 400 assorted sizes pack.

They worked fine, but unfortunately I didn't get to give them a really good tryout along with my whole ear covers — yup, I'm the "genius" :) — before I had to send the PBPs back to Apple. If the only reaction you get from the PBPs is inside your ear canals, then maybe different ear tips like the ones from Comply will solve the problem for you. For me the skin reaction was everywhere the PBPs touched my skin, so that's why I decided to try the now-defunct covers idea. Oh well... There are, of course, wireless earphones with ear hooks made by other manufacturers and I might give some of them a try, but again, what I really want is some PBPs that don't drive my ears crazy!

Love them but have the Same problem as the rest with the tips that go in the ears crusty, draining, red and itchy , also the clip that goes behind the ear is very irritated and crusty—actually a line of crusty skin on the back of the earlobes too...trying different ear tips and cleaning the clip with 90% rubbing alcohol. Will see how it goes.

We be continued to update Apple. They are going to return them to Ireland to be looked at. We shall see. I have the same issues with my skin around in and on the ears. No other earphones in 30 years have done this. I’ve taken it up with my Doctor too. He says it’s something they are having to see more of, in , particular apple beats and AirPod pros. I’m on my second change of prescription to deal with this.

Keep this discussion informed of outcomes etc.

I've had the exact experience as everyone else on this thread with my Powerbeats Pro, though didn't start experiencing a problem until I'd been using them for 6 months or so. I've cleaned them (and the case) regularly with alcohol , so they aren't dirty or causing a bacterial issue. I just figured I was wearing them too much and irritating by ears. SO - I decided to buy an over ear option that gives me the same wonderful performance as the PBP (which are otherwise awesome). I just got a beautiful pair of Beats Solo Pro (matte blue), wore them for the day working and experienced EXACTLY the same problem, though this time on the skin surrounding my ear, everywhere the earcup makes contact with my skin. First time wearing them so not an issue of bacteria. So great - now my face is flaking, on fire itchy and seeping like my ears were and I'm out almost $300.

Has anyone found a solution or something we can do to remove the irritant? I really love the product otherwise, but the rash and pain it causes is not tolerable.

From what I’ve heard it’s not just PBP issue, AirPods Pro has it too.

Although I didn’t experience it myself with mine.

As for a refund in my case I don’t know if Apple would refund me since my current PBP are warranty replacement.

I had a different problem with mine 2 years ago right after I purchased them and Apple replaced them, that’s when the allergy problem started.

No solution!

Today I just got the final "sorry, still not our problem" from our caring friends at Apple after opening a case in spring 2020 and having been treated with the "runaround" for almost a year. Spoken to 10 people. Sent bills from 3 doctors visits, descriptions, changed silicone buds to other brands, cleaned them, thuroughly taped the hoop, used creams, the works. No luck, reaction appears within an hour and irritation/scaling remains for 2-3 weeks after I stop using them. So I have stopped permanently. Obviouly the PBP are at fault. It does not feel right to sell them and just forward the problem.

Anyway, first Apple's escalation-"technicians" concluded it was beacuse I "had not cleaned them", then they said I had to "talk to the shop that sold them", now they say "oh yeah, the materials can cause reaction" but that they are not at fault and it has been written on the website that some materials can cause a reaction. (Which means they can do whatever they like and not be blamed since they "warned me".)

These are some aggressive materials. Never had anything remotely similar with any other products. Never been allergic before. And certainly not to any other in-ear headphones, even sweating.

This apple is rotten. Stay away.
