skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

I had exactly the same issue. Although to took a while to develop. Probably 2-3 months of regular use. Now if I wear for 30 mins I get the symptoms and have to avoid using for a week for them to clear up.

i solved this by replacing the tips with those from a 3rd party. I found a company called Comply who make replacement tips for many different headphones. I think the main selling point is they are made from a special foam that gives great sound benefits as well as comfort. I ordered a set, I am in the UK so they took a few weeks to arrive. I have to say I have been impressed. They take a while to get used to. However I have had no reaction, so I am back using my Powerbeats pro without issue.

I will once my ears clear up.

I called Apple yesterday to report problem (I am getting refund from Amazon) They took information, connected me to a safety rep. He took my information, requested pictures of my ears and of headphone. He called me back today and asked specific questions from there engineers. Seemed like same question asked in different ways. When did it happen, how long after wearing them did irritation happen, how long for irritation to go away, have you worn them again, etc. They generally do seem concerned and are investigating

Great question...... I am concerned that it appears Apple have not made an attempt to ameliorate this problem. The impact is worse the second time as evident by taking longer to heal than the initial experience. Initial experience took approximately 2 weeks to heal, I wish I knew the initial time that the earbuds were the antecedent. Meanwhile, 2nd time it has taken nearly a month and still experiencing dryness in my ear - helix, antihelix and ******.  I will be going to a Apple store in the area and hope they provide a refund at least. I still have the receipt and box.

I have had my Powerbeats since May. Unfortunately I have had progressively worse symptoms every time I wear them. It started out just itching so I blamed it on the summer time heat. The last two times I have worn them it starts with itching and by the next day I have clear drainage and large areas of peeling skin for a week. Not good to be allergic to something so expensive!! Where are you getting the materials from Apple?

I haven’t had much luck so far. Apple responded by telling me to go to Apple support. Apple support is a run around so far and there aren’t any stores near me. The white ear buds that are on the free headphones that come with an iPhone don’t bother me but that doesn’t solve the ear piece part. After spending $250 I’ll take my money back or something! I’m going to keep trying to get to someone at Apple.

Started with itch the fluid draining with the itch..went to both my general and emt..no infection but my dermatologist won’t examine ear saying is emt....I think is More of a skin thing than an ear thing..try to limit the use and just use one ear..but I need them for work.

If I wasn’t so terrified of loosing AirPods I would give them a try..

Has anyone had a similar problem with AirPods?

Very same problem here.

My Powerbeats pros were a gift from my husband in June 2019. Absolutely brilliant for 6-7 months but then my ears started reacting to them. I isolated the issue to the PBPs as the cause by stopping use - the issues restarted when I reintroduced them. Drainage from ears, terrible itching and irritation.

I am really hoping that Apple will help to provide a solution.

I went thru this - wore for a a few weeks, started to get the pain and discharge from the ears, rash, bleeding. Did not use for a couple months, then tried again and same issue. I went thru apple support, after about 3 months of back and forth describing the issue, sending photos of my ears, proof of purchase, etc. I did get a full refund after sending them in.

I bought my Powerbeats Pro Wireless from Best Buy local retailer and I have been having the same issues with discharge in both ears. Went to my EN&T specialist and she took a culture sample and had it sent to the laboratory. The results came back as being yeast infection due to severe ear dermatitis. I have had the Powerbeats Pro wireless headset for a year. 1st time I wore them the infection was only in the right ear. Now when I wear them it has gotten equally alarming in both ears. Every time I get it I stop wearing them and after about two weeks it clears up. I have now resorted to wearing over the ear wireless headphones connected to my Yamaha Bluetooth stereo system and my ears have never felt better. Also my Apple wired headphones have never ever done this.
