AirPods Pro clicking sound.

A few weeks ago the latest firmware update for the AirPods Pro released(2C54). Following this update, my right AirPod developed a clicking sound whenever ANC/Transparency mode was active. Whenever the AirPod is touched slightly by moving my head or touching it, you can hear a clicking/rattling sound. When both modes are off, the sound is not present. This leads me to believe the problem is not a hardware problem as nothing is physically damaged. The mic on the outside of the AirPods has a problem however. Today my left AirPod has also started producing this clicking/rattling sound whenever touched. I just want some answers/help. Thank you.

I’ve been having the EXACT same problem for the past few days now. I’ve been using them since release but nothing like this has happened until around now. I’ve also noticed that when I remove the rubber tip, the rattling noise disappears. I’m just wondering what’s causing this and if this is a software or hardware issue since my country’s in lockdown right now due to the virus and I can’t really have it replaced atm :/

Haven't read all the replies but basically you have to send the defective airpod back to Apple and get a new one. If you call their support hotline they are super helpful and walk you through what you need to do. Just make sure you send the defective pod back to Apple or they'll charge you $99 for it. Yikes.

I’m having the exact same issue, started about 2 days ago. Had my AirPods for a long time with no other problems.

clicking noise in the right ear whenever I move my head or jaw, and even worse when I touch it. It won’t pass the tip fit test with any size of the silicone pieces anymore either.

Only happens in transparency and noise cancellation modes. Still works with them off.

I'm experiencing this same clicking sound in my right AirPod Pro. The sound is persistent when transparency mode is turned on or off. Slight movements of the head set it off. The left AirPod doesn't exhibit these noises at all.

I also believe nothing is physically damaged. I'll follow the steps listed in this thread to see if 1 or several solutions fix the problem I'm encountering.

This is my fix!!! Hope it works for you forks.

My AirPods was first batch and only had problem lately in Apr 2021. It has the latest software.

Same issue but for the left ear, this is my fix.

Settings-Bluetooth-AirPods pro- microphone always right, if you have problem with the right one just vice verse.

It still won’t past the ear tip fit test, but it hugely reduced the rattling noise. I hardly hear them now, butt it also reduced the ANC imo.

100% sure it’s software issue.
