Kensington Trackball Works / Mac Catalina Doesn't Work for Pan and Orbit

Kensington Trackball(works) is nothing but headaches for pan/zoom in Fusion on Mac. When you set a Kensington Mouse button (or bottom pair) to "middle click", it will not pan or orbit (w/SHIFT) in Fusion. ..what you will see when you click-hold the middle button is the pan/zoom icons at the bottom of the Fusion 360 view 'flash briefly'. Now Kensington can assign a key as a 'middle click' or a 'middle drag' (which is ridiculous...HOLDing the button down is drag). If you set the two bottom buttons to "middle drag", then pan/orbit DOES work; however, the pan/orbit functions in Fusion continue even after releasing, i.e. 'buttons up' in this case...and you have to left-click to end the commands. I program hardware myself (and used trackballs for 20 years) and I'm not sure if this is in kensingtons court or Autodesk's court......maybe both are trying to take control and causing issues? The middle-click "hold" event should be easy-peasy...and lead to a PAN in Fusion. and the SHIFT middle-click "hold" event should result in a rotation. Could one of you Autodesk folks please get with the Kensington folks and come up with something that works as expected? Kensingtons concept of assinging a mouse button to 'middle-drag' (as opposed to just holding the button down) is ....well I'm not sure what it is..... but I am also contacting their support and giving feedback.

After testing in a few more programs, I believe the ball/problem to be in Kensingtons Court. For some crazy reason on their trackball, holding down the middle mouse button(s) (whether assigned to one button or the two bottom buttons on their Pro trackball) seems to only process a "mouse down" event and not a "mouse hold" event. As such, you can't use their trackball to "middle click hold" for drag and pan....you have to explicitly set these buttons to "middle-drag"....which (presumably on mouse down) starts the drag command....and ignores whether the buttons are actually held down.....and this leads to you having to left click to 'end the drag'. What are these guys smokin?
