iPad Photo Stacking Problem

I tapped a picture in photos on my iPad and it moved to the bottom of the screen and the number 1 was tagged on the corner in a blue circle. Now each time I tap a photo, it gets added to the stack and the number increases by one. How do I turn off?

Thanks. I tried that. But every time I touched the stack it would move out from under my finger. I would still try to get it off the screen but no luck. The good news is that it seemed to time out and the stack is gone.

"Select multiple items to move

  1. Touch and hold the first selected item, drag it slightly, and continue holding it.
  2. While still holding the first item, tap additional items with another finger. A badge indicates the number of selected items.
  3. Drag all of the items together.

If you change your mind about moving items, lift your finger before dragging, or drag the items off the screen."
