my father passed away yesterday and I'm trying to reset the I pad I gifted him two christmases ago but don't know his Apple ID password. I'm also stuck in activation lock. Does anyone have a suggestion to help me restore the I pad

I need to remove the Apple ID and password from the phone but I don't know his id and password. So what should I do about this issue? And also, I don't have the phone's receipt, where should I get the receipt from? Please help me. Thank you.

Sorry about your loss.

Take the iPad and appropriate paperwork (death certificate, proof of ownership) to an Apple Store and seek assistance there.
