I reset Face ID

FaceID stopped working after 14 months. I reset Face ID and attempted to set up Face ID afresh.

The process will not function as it asks me to position my face within the frame, then stops there. If I move at all it will say either “move iPhone a little higher” or “move iPhone a little lower”.

i cannot progress further than these two error messages.

My iPhone is in excellent condition, never been dropped, screen unblemished, so I have no idea what’s going on.

also, my software is up to date.
