Fusion Drive - APFS or Extended Journaled
I recently reformated my iMAC system HD (1TB Fusion) and selected to make it APFS. Was this wise or should I have stuck with Extended Journaled? I'm using Catalina.
Cheers
Matt

Oh, I did not realise. I've been running Catalina over a month, was I not aware my fusion drive was APFS? I though tit was still extended journaled but I'm not too sure.
If you click on your drive and press "command + i" or select "Get Info" from the Finder "File" menu, an info window opens and it will list the format.
Anytime. 😎
I have two iMacs with Fusion drives. Both APFS formatted. Both work fine.
Just to add, Catalina requires APFS so you have no choice if you want to run Catalina.
Thank you - it's just I heard that maybe there is more fragmentation in the long run?

You're welcome. Fragmentation is not an issue.
Thank you! It is definitely APFS now, but I can't remember what it was before format. I'm sure in late 2018 when I formatted it for Mojave it was Extended Journaled.
You're welcome. When Catalina is installed it automatically converts all drives, HDDs, SSDs and Fusion to APFS.
Great thank you! 👍
