The face recognition on my iPhone X was working fine till yesterday. I find that since this morning I am no longer able to use face recognition to unlock my phone or pay for anything. I tried resetting, but it keeps telling me move the phone a little higher or a little lower. I have tried doing that but nothing works. Would appreciate any advice.

Did you try a Force Restart? Try this, but if it doesn't help, then a visit to the Apple Store Genius Bar would be in order:
