HomePods constantly losing connectivity with Wi-fi

I have 2 separate pair of HomePods set up in stereo mode. Both sets are in range of a strong Wi-Fi signal.

About 50% of the time that I use a "Hey Siri" request, I get a delay from Siri (e.g., hold on, I'm working it), then " I'm sorry, but I'm having trouble connecting to the Internet".

This is extremely frustrating--and the only Wi-Fi related issue that I am having with any devices in my house.

Anyone else having these problems? And yes, I have tried unpairing, resetting, unplugging, etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have Dual Bands on your wifi , this is not favourable for the HomePods. It will keep jumping around trying to get the higher signal (5G)

other things you can try are power cycling the HomePod or wifi router.

I agree with you. It appears that they have good ideas regarding software enhancements, but don't test them adequately. After Tuesday's iOS updates, they appear to be working better. Holding my breath...

I haven't made any changes yet, but have noticed that my 2 HomePod pair operation seems to be much more stable since the last iOS update last week. I've only had to restart 1 system since the update....

I was hoping that I could avoid calling Apple, but that may end up being the solution (will try turning off the band steering on my dual-band Wi-fi first--as suggested by Vancouver22).

It saddens me to say that the quality of Apple's software/hardware has really started to go down the tubes over the past year or so. I wish I knew exactly what was happening, internally, but something has gone awry. 🤬

I haven't considered the Dual Bands as being a problem. I will try turning off the band steering and splitting the 2.4 and 5GHz Bands.
