Problem setting up new iPad Air 3- gets stuck at software update

How do I get beyond the software update when setting up new iPad Air 3? It's stuck there and I cannot move beyond it without starting over.

Brand new ipad air 5th Gen is stuck and won't update Hello! I got my iPad air 5th gen yesterday and have been trying to set it up. However, it won't let me get past the update software screen. It just chugs and chugs. I restarted it multiple times to try to get past without updating, and it won't let me. It's been on the same screen since for about 8 hours now. Any ideas?

iPad stuck on "Preparing Update" for 16.6 Two iPads and two iPhones. Both phones updated reasonably quickly. One iPad did the same. One iPad has decided not to go beyond the preparing stage. All use same WiFi system so that does not seem to be the problem. Is only recourse to delete update and download again?
