Weather widget says Cupertino

I’ve tried the suggestions on another thread. They don’t work. Give me ONE SIMPLE STEP BY STEP WAY to get my actual location on the weather widget instead of Cupertino. And PLEASE don’t tell me to look for an icon on “the weather app.” WHAT weather app??? Please be clear. Pretend I’m your kindergartner or your grandma. Thanks!

Try this.

1. Navigate to the “Settings” app.

2.Scroll down and tap “Privacy”.

3.Go to “Location Services”.

4.Enable “Location Services”.

5. Now, go to the “Weather” app on the same tab.

6. Tick mark “While Using the App”.

Then, depending on your iPad model.

If your iPad has a Home button,

Do a simple hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

If you have an iPad with NO Home button

Try the new hard reset procedure for the new 2018 iPad Pro models.

1. Press and release the volume UP button.

2. Then immediately press and release the volume DOWN button.

3. Then, press and hold the Power button at the top. You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the Power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018 iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.

Good Luck!

Thanks, guys. So here goes:

My iPad is brand new (7th generation). I’m not using a VPN. I don’t even see the option in settings like I did with my iPad 2. Also, there was no weather app on this. I tried the location services settings and there was nothing about weather until I went to the App Store and got The Weather Channel app (I chose that one because that’s what came on my iPhone and the widget works on that). I then enabled the location services weather setting to while using and reset. Still Cupertino. I opened the WC app and it shows my location as Denver (I’m really in Lakewood but close enough). I got a pop up asking if I wanted to let the app use my location even when I wasn’t using it and since the “while using” setting didn’t work I said yes and did another reset. STILL Cupertino.

I also have the Storm Shield app—that’s an app created by one of our local news channels. It shows Lakewood as my location and is also allowed to use my location while I’m using the app. Do you suppose that having two weather apps is confusing the widget?

Any other thoughts?

Okay - this test may sound counter intuitive given valid comments by others, but try this...

Download and install the hide.me VPN App from the Apple App Store. Note, this is a free download - and we’ll be using the “free trial” subscription for this test - you do not need to buy anything or pay for a subscription!

Launch the hide.me VPN App - and allow it to install the VPN Profile. When fully set-up (remember - use the renewable free trial), choose the nearest available free server location to you - and enable the VPN.

Now, go to your weather App and check your location. Does it say Cupertino, or the city name that matches that selected within the hide.me VPN App?

One more relevant question... is your iPad a WiFi Only model - or WiFi & Cellular?
