Whether i'm trying to sign in or swipe on an app or on the home page. i've tried the reboot method where you hold down up on the volume then down then the sleep button... all that does is start to activate the SOS which is obviously not what i want. how do i fix this? please help!!

Hi there, nisha231.

I see that you're unable to use the display of your iPhone XR to swipe in any direction. You've tried to force restart your iPhone, but it only brought up Emergency SOS. I'm glad to help with this.

Use Emergency SOS on your iPhone -- I'm providing this information in case your button presses weren't quite specific enough. In order to call emergency services, you press and hold the side button and one of the Volume buttons until the Emergency SOS slider appears.

Force restart iPhone -- In order to force restart your iPhone XR, press the up volume and quickly release, immediately press the down volume button and quickly release. Then press and hold the side button. Release the side button once the Apple logo appears. The "slide to power off" option will appear before the Apple logo.

Apple - Support - Product Selection — If you're still unable to force restart your iPhone XR, please contact Apple Support. After selecting this link, choose System Performance > Device frozen or unresponsive. Then select how you'd like to start the conversation.

Take care.
