Record a Powerpoint presentation with speaker video

On Powerpoint on PC, I can record a presentation accompanied by a camera recording of the speaker in an inset window. I don't see this option on a Mac anywhere.

Is this doable on a Mac—record a presentation including a video of the presenter in an inset window? If this is not doable on ppt on a Mac, is it possible using Keynote?

Thanks for any input.

btw: sorry if this question doesn't fit this thread. Didn't know where else to put it.

Apparently this feature is not available in Keynote or Powerpoint on the mac, but it is fairly easy to achieve with the help of iMovie (which is free, and furthermore will allow for far more flexibility in editing, like cutting out silent parts or mistakes, adjusting duration, and so on).

Here is a simple way one may achieve this: in iMovie, start recording.

Switch to Keynote, play the presentation and do the speaking.

Stop the recording. Your presenter video will be right there in iMovie.

Export the presentation - either as a video or a series of stills, and import that to iMovie. Add the presentation to your timeline, place the presenter video atop it, and select to make it appear as "picture in picture".

Thinks for the links. However, I'm looking for a way to video and record the presenter as he is recording the narration. Powerpoint for PCs has this capability, but for some reason Microsoft decided not to include this function in Powerpoint for Macs.

This is a extremely useful function in the academic and medical community. Recording narration or imbedding videos in slides has been around for years, but including an inset screen of the presenter has—until recently—only been included in high-end software. We were hoping that Apple would have included this capability in Keynote.

That’s a great question you have about adding a video to your Keynote presentation on a Mac. I recommend checking out these articles for the options available for adding videos to your presentations with Keynote:

Add existing video and audio in Keynote on Mac

Record audio in Keynote on Mac

Edit video and audio in Keynote on Mac

Thanks again for the question and have a wonderful day!

Thanks for great reply. I've tried process similar to this in past. Although, this method works, it's a far cry from the simple start and stop recording/wysiwyg function built into PPT for PC, especially when time is a premium commodity. Let's hope Apple and/or Microsoft incorporates the PC function into future releases of PPT and/or Keynote. Again, appreciate the effort in your reply.
