Screencap from Logic Pro X no longer works

My job requires me to screencap A/V out of Logic Pro X. I’ve been doing this for years using Screenflow, but it has stopped working with the latest updates from Apple and Telestream. I’m now able to capture video but no audio, even after downgrading to older Screenflow versions. After perusing forums and speaking with Telestream, it seems like all the screen capture companies say there is nothing they can do until Apple provides an adequate API for them to work with. I have no idea what to do now, because it seems like nobody is claiming responsibility for the loss of functionality, but without a solution for this, I don't know how I'm going to do my job. Really really don't want to downgrade from Catalina--which would require me to redo licenses on a ton of third party software and risk losing important data--and would prefer not to switch to Ableton at the moment since I have a good workflow going in Logic. Is anyone here having success screencapping A/V in Logic Pro X on Catalina? Thanks! MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) OS Catalina 10.15.3, Screenflow 9.0.2 and Screenflow 7.3

Is it limited to Logic or you have the same problem with other apps? I think you refer to software audio capture? If so, I think your options are limited. Did you try to select the HAL audio driver within Logic? Expect latency doing so.

Note: I don't use Screenflow. My understanding is there are changes in Apple hardware and OS architectures that limit now what this kind of apps used to do. Solutions may come with time.

Thanks WD. Software audio capture, yes. I thought the problem was specific to Logic-Screenflow at first. Now I realize Ableton-Screenflow capture is affected in the same way. So, in the hopes of keeping my Catalina install, I'm ready to ditch Screenflow...if I'm able to find a functional alternative that plays nice with Apple's OS architecture changes.

Pancenter,

This is only a part of the problem and refers to capturing audio from a "physical" device.

Apps like Screenflow want also to capture Software Audio; i.e: Audio produced by an application (ex: Logic). More over they want to do it with minimum or no latency. This was usually done by capturing audio at low level in the system. Installing a kext for example.

With Mojave and Catalina, Apple is making this approach very difficult or impossible. This is aggravated on recent Macs where some of the low level audio functions are handled by the T2 chips. In a nutshell, Audio kexts are deprecated... Well this is my understanding.

There is still the possibility to create a "virtual" device and capture its audio but that doesn't make sense for a DAW like in the case of the OP.

I didn't have the time to do a deep dive to see exactly what is happening yet. I may be wrong on the details. This is the subject of many discussions on developper forums.
