macbook pro catalina location services issues

I have a new macbook pro using catalina. I noticed that the time is wrong. In System Preferences, Date & Time, it indicates "Unable to determine current location at this time." So, I go to Security & Privacy, Privacy, unlock it, then Enable Location Services. Then, no matter what I do (which apps I allow, whether or not I lock in the changes) the clock still cannot determine my location. I also checked the Maps app, allowed it to locate me, but it also "cannot locate current position." I am on WIFI.

What do I do next? Thanks for any help.

Hello!

I see that you're having some trouble on your MacBook Pro because it's unable to determine the location in both Maps and when adjusting the time settings. I'll be happy to help out with this.

Have you tried performing those actions to see if you have the same response in safe mode? This can help tell us if the issue is possible login items. Sometimes just restarting in this mode can resolve issues: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Also try a test user account. Creating a test user account can help determine if the issue is caused by third-party software: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
