itunes 12.10.4 will not backup my iPhone XR or my iPad Air 2

My Windows iTunes 12.10.4 has two issues. The first is that when I connect either my iPhone XR or my iPad Air 2, the storage bar at the bottom of the screen shows my used space as yellow, or other. No apps, using etc. The second issue is that the updates section of the screen says that these devices have not been backed up to this computer. However, they have been updated to this computer many times. The back up now button will not come on, either.

This looks to me like an iTunes 12.10.4 Windows issue but I don’t see any other complaints about this. Has anyone seen and fixed this problem?
