No HDR for iMac Pro and LG 27UK850

I have a iMac Pro (10-Core Intel Xeon W; 64GB DD4, Pro Vega 16) that is connect to an LG 27UK850 via a USB-C cable. Apple TV consistently displays the message "this monitor does not support HDR playback" when I try to play an HDR movie on the LG monitor.

I've seen at least 1 similar post on these forums (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250621127) but I have not seen a solution posted.

Things I've tried:

HDMI from monitor to USB-C on iMac

DP from monitor to USB-C on iMac

iMac Pro

Hey there iMacProWayToGo,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues watching videos from TV app on your Mac on your external monitor. I’ll be happy to help with this.

To verify, does the external monitor work without issue until you attempt to play a video from the TV app? If so, go through this link for some steps that may explain why this is happening and help resolve it:

Find and watch movies with 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos

You may also find some helpful info about using the external monitor with your Mac here:

Let me know if this helps.
